The AFAR: PvP Game is a "level-based platform-shooter" where players race, shoot & platform over rounds collecting points as they race to the finish line. When the rounds are over, the player with the highest total points wins.

AFAR: Mining Game

The AFAR:Mining Game is a Build-to-Earn blockchain-based mining game where players use mine mechanics and upgrade systems to gain resources and NFT rewards.

AFAR: Spaceship Game

The AFAR: Spaceship Game is a trading-based game where players transport resources and travel across the universe, building their space-merchant empire.

AFAR: Social Hub

The AFAR: Social Hub serves as the connection between the games in the AFAR universe.

As LAVA LABS, we believe that great games should preserve their essence by remaining skill-based and fun. Our vision is to create a WEB 3.0 platform that maintains these principles across multiple games. TIMELINE

The rollout of the features in this document will take place in different stages detailed in the Roadmap section. The development will be staged from simple mechanics to more complex ones.

Ecosystem Overview

The Planet

The AFAR ecosystem has multiple games that can be played independently of each other. The games will be released sequentially as the ecosystem develops further within the AFAR universe.

The Planet is in the center of the Universe, where the Mining Game takes place and the Social Hub is located. There are two types of Land that exist on The Planet are AFAR Land and Resource Land. The Mining Game is played on both types of Land. The Land is limited in supply and may be owned by groups or individuals in the near future.

The Torus is a massive spaceship where the AFAR PvP Game takes place. The Torus has the ability to host varying levels. The Torus uses the Social Hub teleport pads for its pre-game and post-game lounge.

The Marketplace is where trading and space-commerce takes place.

The Spaceship Game is a trading-based game where players use spaceships to transport resources and Eggs to become the best space-merchant.

Planet

The Planet Overview

The Planet is made up of plots of Land with the Social Hub at its centre. There are 2 types of Land: Resource Land and AFAR Land. Players can play the Mining Game on either type.

As players venture out and explore The Planet, they can purchase a limited amount of NFT Resource Land plots, they can also build mining camps to harvest The Planet's resources.

AFAR: PVP Game Overview

The AFAR: PvP Game takes place on The Torus, a massive spaceship designed to host competitions. Players will race to the finish line, platforming and shooting other players. Players compete through rounds, earning points to see who can get the most and be crowned the winner.

How to WIN

Players compete through 4 rounds to complete a match.

After playing through all 4 rounds, players with the highest total Victory Points will win. Earning more victory points than adversaries will get players XP, increasing their season pass level, netting awesome rewards!

Completing all rounds will allow players to show off their style as they jet off to the exclusive post-game lounge at the Social Hub, where they can hang out with everyone who completed the match.

Levels

The Torus has the ability to host a variety of levels that have varying themes, difficulty and gameplay. As the game develops and evolves, LAVA LABS will develop the levels in which players participate aboard The Torus.

AFAR: ​Mining Game Overview

The Mining Game is a base defense game where players can construct buildings to harvest resources from The Planet. The resources are used to build defenses to protect Mining Camps from attacks.

All mining operations run on The Planet, where players build Mining Camps on either Resource Land or AFAR Land. By mining resources players will gain XP, allowing them to earn cosmetics and other rewards from the Season Pass.

Resources are required to upgrade and optimize Mining Camps. Better players can increase the rate at which they can mine resources and earn XP. Players will also need to pay for building defenses for their camp to stave off any attacks and continue mining.

Through experimentation, better players may discover superior combinations of Mining Camp upgrades and management to maximize Land yield over time.

AFAR: Social Hub Overview

The Social Hub

The Social Hub is located on The Planet and is a place for players to gather and have fun.

It is the heart of the ecosystem linking all the games in the AFAR universe together. Players can participate in social activities, special events and show off cosmetics they have earned. The Social Hub will evolve and grow with the help of the community, as they venture and explore new lands - contributing to its growth.

Players will gather at the Social Hub before and after PvP matches. Additionally, players may dock spaceships and attend special events.

AFAR: Spaceship Game Overview

The Spaceship Game is a trading-based game where players transport resources and Eggs to become the best space-merchant. Once players acquire a Spaceship to play, they must discover trade routes to transport and make a profit while maintaining and upgrading their ship.

Play will occur between the Marketplace, The Torus, The Social Hub and Mining Camps. Players must determine the optimum goods to buy and sell at each destination.

The Planet Overview

AFAR: PvP Game

Players shoot and race to the finish line, collecting points over multiple rounds to reach the finish using any means necessary.

AFAR: Mining Game

Players get their dig on as they manage their mining camp, plan building layouts, harvest resources, and defend their Mining Camp!

AFAR: Spaceship Game

Players travel across the universe in search of rare goods that they can sell for profit at the Marketplace, will they make it back home safely?

Social Hub

A place for players to relax, hang out with their friends, take part in mini-games and flex special items.

AFAR: PvP Gameplay

GamePlay

Aboard The Torus, your heroes participate in matches racing to the finish line by shooting, avoiding traps, and navigating obstacles. The match continues through multiple rounds with increasing stakes.

Over time, as you compete in more matches and start making a name for yourself, your reputation level will increase, allowing you to unlock cosmetics and special items for your hero.

In AFAR, players can play as one of six characters.

Each character is highly customizable to accurately represent each players personality and taste. Custom character skins and special items, such as weapon skins, as well as emotes and other moves allow players to express themselves freely in AFAR.

Within the AFAR ecosystem, having fun and making fun games comes first.

Matches

A match has 4 rounds with increasing points available each round, giving players the chance to make a comeback even in the last round. After playing through all 4 rounds, players with the highest total Victory Points will win.

Pre and Post Game

Rounds

A round lasts roughly 6 minutes and requires multiple players per round. Upon release, non-player characters (Lava LABS AI Bot System) will be present to fill the rounds to minimize wait times and educate newer players, setting them up for success as they climb through the ranks to compete with more experienced players.

Participating in all rounds of a match grants players exclusive access to the post-game lounge at the Social Hub.

Levels

The Torus has the ability to host a variety of levels that have varying themes, difficulty and gameplay. As the game develops and evolves, LAVA LABS will develop the levels in which players participate aboard The Torus.

Earning points and achievements will raise the players’ XP, allowing the player to progress in the Season Pass.

Further Information

Gameplay will follow fair, strictly non-pay-to-win core gameplay mechanics in the PvP Game, in which rewards only have cosmetic effects.

There will also be special events and tournaments throughout the year, allowing players to gain special rewards for participating.

AFAR: ​Mining Gameplay

GamePlay

A Mining Camp needs Land to function and mine resources. The player travels to The Planet, selecting Land where they wish to place their Mining Camp. A player's first decision is to choose a good location for their Mining Camp. To begin mining, players can place their mining buildings on their camps and start playing.

Resources can be harvested from the ground by the relevant buildings. These resources, once collected, accumulate in the appropriate Silo. Silos are a type of building used to store resources on your mining camp. Once full, Silos require upgrades, or new silos may be built.

Mining Gameplay

A player's Mining Camp may be relocated for a small fee if the player wishes to prospect on different Land. While players have a choice to relocate their Mining Camp on either AFAR Land or Resource Land, different types of properties that influence attacks and resource levels will be at play.

To defend against attacks, players will need to build and upgrade defenses. If an attack overwhelms the camp, a player will need to repair any damages to continue mining.

The Mining Game is made up of Seasons - each new Season will last a series of weeks.

Players will need to upgrade and optimize their Mining Camp to increase the rate at which they can earn XP.

Silo Progression

The Mining Game is the primary acquisition loop for Eggs. Eggs are the primary delivery mechanism of Cosmetic NFTs to the players.

Eggs can be acquired in multiple ways: one of the ways is from the mining Season Pass. The player will level up to gain rewards by gaining XP through actions and achievements in the Mining Game. As gameplay progresses, other ways to obtain Eggs will be revealed.

Land NFTS

Land NFTs will be revealed in the upcoming Land Pre-Sale. Each Land NFT is unique with distinct properties. Land NFTs will be revealed one-by-one during the Pre-Sale with the blurring removed thus revealing to the owner its visual properties.

Concealed Resource Land

Resource Land

The Planet contains a finite amount of Land NFTs, that players use to participate in the AFAR: Mining Game. Gameplay is split between two primary activities: Land ownership and Mining Camp operation.

There are two types of land ownership: Resource Land, a tradable ERC-721 NFT owned by players, and AFAR Land owned by LAVA LABS. Resource Landowners decide which Mining Camp operators can mine their Land, benefiting from a share of the economic value extracted by the miners. Resource Landowners should promote their Land to Mining Camp operators to gain economic benefits from the mining activity.

Properties

Resource Land has certain properties that govern its visual look and economic utility in the Mining Game. Resource Lands’ economic properties influence available resources, and Mining Camp yields.

Base Properties

Base properties include elements such as coordinate positions. These are common across all Land. The lower these values are, the closer the Land is to the Social Hub.

Cosmetics Properties

Cosmetic properties of Land determine what a plot of Land looks like. Some properties may be rarer and sought after than others. While some combinations of properties may also be important and sought after due to rarity.

Economic Properties

Economic properties may be identified over time by players with Mining Camps on the Resource Land.

AFAR Land

AFAR Land behaves and functions like Resource Land but is operated by LAVA LABS. Allowing players to build Mining Camps and mine resources.

AFAR Land

AFAR Land is operated by LAVA LABS, granting players the freedom of choice, and access if there is too much demand. Initially, some mining activity will take place on AFAR Land.

Mining Camp

Overview

A Mining Camp needs Land to function and mine resources. A player's first decision is to choose a good location for their Mining Camp. A Mining Camp is placed on Land of the players choosing. Players can then add buildings, choosing how to layout their mining operation.

Players will also need to upgrade their Camp HQ to unlock upgrades. Resources can be reinvested back into the Mining Camp to upgrade buildings to increase their stats.

Players will also need to build up their defensive structures to repel attacks on the Mining Camp and protect their resources from being stolen. Attacks will happen every so often, and the attackers will leave ruins of buildings and empty coffers behind if the player's turrets and walls aren't upgraded. After an attack, players will need to repair any damage to continue mining.

Player actions and achievements in the Mining Camp will net XP to help players level up on the Season Pass.

• Camp HQ - Controls the level of the camp - Upgrading will unlock further progression in other buildings and camp expansions.

• Crystal Mining Equipment - Buildings where Crystal Resource is mined and needs collecting.

• Silos - There are 2 types of Silos. One stores Crystal resources, the other stores Refined Ore and has a capacity that can be upgraded.

• Ore Mining Equipment - Buildings where Ore resources are gained.

• Trade Dock - This is where players can take their resources to the Marketplace to sell.

• Cosmetics -Make your buildings look fancy and cool.

Defense

• Walls - Will protect a player's base and is the first line of defense against attackers.

• Turrets - These buildings fight back against attackers, deterring them from raiding any further into a player's camp.

Mining Game Resources

ORE

Blue Ore is one of the resources mined directly at Mining Camps. It must then be refined before it can be stored in the Ore Silos and can be sold or used in upgrading Mining Camps buildings.

Crystal

Crystal is extracted at Mining Camps. Crystal is stored in the Crystal Silos and can be sold or used in upgrading Mining Camps buildings.

Future Resources

Other resources will be added in the future: some will be raw assets, and others will be generated through the refinement of other resources.

Season Pass

Seasons in AFAR are fixed lengths of time with new content, gameplay and limited-time events. Each Season will come with its own Season Pass. At the beginning and end of Seasons, special events will be held.

Players can earn XP by participating in special events. As players unlock levels on each Season Pass, scarce NFT items and rewards can be claimed. Players will need to claim as many rewards as possible before the Season ends.

A Season Pass

The Season Pass supports : FIAT ($/£/€) and $TOKEN classes. Any levels passed on the paid Season Pass class will be automatically unlocked with their rewards when purchasing the passes.

AFAR: SOCIAL HUB

The Social Hub is the heart of The Planet's ecosystem. It's the gateway to access The Planet and the link between games in the AFAR Metaverse. The Social Hub hosts all social activities and spaces where players can spend time socialising and expressing themselves with their cosmetics. The Social Hub is located centrally on The Planet, open to players with AFAR Accounts.

The Social Hub is where players interact with one another, making new friends, chatting, trading or gifting in-game items or just showing off their cosmetics. If in need for a bit more privacy, players can retreat to their private space. A players private space can be decorated and used as a place to hangout with friends.

The Social Hub plays an important role in facilitating the AFAR: PvP Game. Players gather in the pre-game and post-game Lounge before and after each match. Players share their favorite moments of the race, earn rewards, and take to the podium with dances and expressions.

Metaverse

Naturally, the Social Hub is the space where most social activities and events will take place. Players can meet special guests, influencers or musicians, attend virtual concerts or new Season Pass parties. Being active on the Social Hub is rewarded through participation badges for attending special events. Additionally, players receive a reward for logging in every day.

It is the AFAR version of a high-quality metaverse with plans to facilitate 3rd party sponsorships and activities.

GamePlay

In the Spaceship Game, players will need to successfully conduct commerce & transport, establishing trading routes to gain XP and further advancing on their Season Pass.

Players can boost the rate at which they earn XP by trading effectively, picking the optimal resources to buy and sell. Players will start at the Social Hub of The planet when a season commences.

Players will also need to perform maintenance on their ship to fix any damage to it that has occurred on its last trip. Once fixed, players can keep transporting their goods to the Marketplace.

SPACESHIP

OVERVIEW

Spaceships are NFTs that players use to trade resources and Eggs between the Social Hub, the Marketplace, The Torus and Mining Camps. Players must trade effectively to increase their XP and progress in their Season Pass.

Players will need to maintain and fuel their ships to be able to transport resources between the various destinations in the Spaceship Game.

A Spaceship in Flight

Play will occur between the Marketplace, The Torus, Social Hub and Mining Camps. Players must determine the optimum goods to buy and sell at each destination.

Players can upgrade their Spaceship when it is docked.

Properties

Spaceships have a class. The class governs the properties, such as their fuel costs and resource capacity.

Spaceships will also have properties that govern their cosmetic appearance and rarity.

EGGS

Overview

In AFAR, Eggs are a container for rewards and can be obtained via the Season Pass. An Egg may contain any number of items inside.

Eggs come in Large and Small varieties.

Large Eggs are always unique NFTs and can be traded.

Large Eggs' rairities will be determined by a mixture of base and cosmetic properties. Early GENESIS Eggs, will likely be sought after in the future if kept in their unopened state. As NFTs Large Eggs can be left unopened indefinitely.

Large Eggs have limited Editions and a certain number of Eggs will be part of a 1/1 custom set.

How to open Eggs

If a player wants to access the rewards within an Egg, they need to open it.

Players can open their Small Eggs instantly.

To open a Large Egg, players will need to use an incubator. Players can wait for the Egg to open once incubated or use $TOKEN to speed up the process. A limited number of incubators per player can be active at once.

Opening a Large Egg will burn the NFT from the user's blockchain whilst minting the contents.

Overview

The Marketplace is where players can buy and sell resources and NFTs.

The Marketplace itself is a massive NFT, that may be rented and operated by strategic partners for certain periods of time. In the future smaller trading posts may also be introduced and operated.

The functionality of the Marketplace will be expanded as more parts of the AFAR ecosystem become active.

Trading Posts are smaller Marketplaces, that may be operated by 3rd parties with branding opportunities.

Because Trading Posts are smaller than the Marketplace , they must rely on Spaceship operators to keep stocks and variety plentiful.

Cosmetic NFTs

Cosmetics are central to the AFAR universe and are used to decorate your heroes. Additional cosmetics will be made available as the ecosystem develops, such as the interior of their spaceships and other exciting display items such as crystals and pets. PVP-only players will need to trade with other players to gain access to rare cosmetics, forming a symbiotic trading economy.

The primary way to obtain cosmetics is by opening Eggs. Cosmetics can also be bought from the Marketplace.

Overview

In a future update, NFT Pets will be released. One aspect of their utility will be in the Mining Game. Pets will have a progression system, earning XP for actions.

Pets, much like Resource Land, have 3 property types: Base properties, Cosmetic properties and Economic properties.

TOKENOMICS

$TOKEN will form the basis of our single token model for governance in the AFAR Metaverse. $TOKEN is a ERC-20 token with a total supply of 1,000,000,000. $TOKEN will also be supported by an in game only currency.

Chapter 2: A Planet in Danger

• Launch of the AFAR: Mining Game Alpha - The Alpha version will focus on the main Mining Game loop: choosing Land, building a Mining Camp and upgrading equipment.

Fair Launch

For our NFT launches, we shall adopt a suitable fair-launch model.

We will allow for groups and individuals to apply for whitelist spots that we will then choose from randomly. Players will have to connect Wallets and have funds, as well as verifying with the creation of an AFAR Account.
